You do not need to become a member to take part in many of our activities (although you will certainly have to enrol or register), but there are lots of benefits in doing so. It is a straightforward process and you will need to complete our Membership Form (see below). Please don’t forget to sign it and return it to the H Pod.
We always like to meet prospective new members and are happy to explain how we work and introduce you to everybody. We are a very open, friendly and inclusive organisation that welcomes everybody who is willing to make a commitment to help us improve our community.
All applications for membership have to go to our Committee of Management meetings for approval and once done you will be given a membership number and put on our mailing list for newsletters and forthcoming activities and events. As it takes about two months to become a member, this provides time for you to get started in helping out and to meet people.
We are only able to provide many of our activities and services through the support given by our members and those who receive our services. Moreover, through volunteering you can build up time credits that can be used when booking coach trips and special events. You can help in a variety of different ways:
By coming along and helping us run group activities such as our after school clubs and during school holidays our family activities programmes. You must be either a registered parent with children taking part or be security checked as a registered volunteer member. We always ask for independent references and you may be asked to be CRB (police) checked as well. This is to protect our young children and our older vulnerable members.
You can register your skills and what you can offer (and also wish to receive) on our Time Exchanges Board and Shahanara, our Broker, will provide help for you to do this. You are also welcome to visit the Time Bank Office at the H Pod during opening hours (Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays 10 am – 4.30 pm).
